Cycling Etiquette

Safety is paramount, and the top priority at our event.

Helmets are required through the entirety of the race.

No headphones or ear buds are allowed at any point on the course, as they limit your situational awareness and may put you and other cyclists around you at risk.

Follow standard Hand signal, and verbal commands  throughout your ride:

Hand straight out and to the left to signal a left turn

Hand straight out to the right or left arm bent up at the elbow to signal right turn

Left are down at an angle to your side to signal slowing and stopping.

Stopping”-Means the pack is stopping up ahead, prepare to decelerate quickly

Slowing”- Means the pack is slowing down

Car Back”- means a car is behind you

Car up”- Means a car is in front of you

On your left”- someone is passing you on the left

Hold your line”- means you need to stay in as straight a line as you can as you cycle.

Ride no more than two cyclists wide at any time and only if the road shoulder width and other road conditions allow it.

Stay to the right to allow others room to safely pass on your left.

Be mindful not to overlap your wheels with other cyclist’s wheels- any sudden shift or movement could cause a loss of balance or a collision.

Please be kind, aware and patient on the roads.

Be mindful of road hazards that may be coming up such as man hole covers, gravel, rain grates or other interferences. If you see a road hazard, call it out and give your fellow riders a heads up.
